Megger MFT 1741+ Error Codes

This page may be of interest to Megger MFT 17xx series tester users.
I’ve encountered some interesting error codes over the years and I’ve asked Megger technical for advice on what they mean.

ERROR 60 Occurs: Megger Say:
This intermittent issue can occur during Zs loop impedance testing. It locks the tester which has to be switched off and on again to reset it. “Integrator exceeded time limit for ramp-down”.
Apparently this fault (with the tester) is triggered by circuit harmonics (noise) causing the integrator part of the tester to lock during the loop confidence test.
RE HI
This error occurred during the test of a MyEnergi Zappi ev charger.

(note that the raw Zs at the incoming terminals inside the Zappi was 0.34Ω)
===
I approached MyEnergi with this, but they just gave me the ‘scooby doo’ (‘I dunno’)!
They did however replace the customer’s charger themselves free of charge!

“RE HI” will be displayed when the resistance value is too high during a type B test. The threshold is >60Ω.
The instrument is seeing a high earth resistance/impedance and this usually shows up on TT and TNS systems. We have found that customers have experienced this with ChargePoint’s that have built in PEN Fault protection.
So in testing Zs through the charge point this suggests something with the internal electronics is affecting the results.
RLn
This comes up now and again during a Zs test. Rln >12 error is the resistance between live and neutral being greater than 12 ohms. The MFT checks the resistance between live and neutral via the supply transformer windings during the Zs test.
A poor neutral connection in the installation is usually the issue.
